New house and a trip to Stillwater October 13, 2008

Well, it has been a long process (one of which we are still in) but we have made some progress that I thought we would share with you all. Our house is finally starting to look like a real house. Here is a before picture from when the whole living was filled with boxes.

Now after a couple weeks we are looking a little more like this…

We are still working on the kitchen and Annie’s room but once we get to organizing and setting them up I will try to post some pictures, especially of the baby room.

Now for our trip to Stillwater. My parents on our day off this week sent Matt and I away on our “last getaway” before the baby was born. They got us a night at the same place we stayed for our 1 year anniversary in Stillwater. It is called Lowell Inn. It is a really old, beautiful hotel, that has amazing food. (I get the beef wellington every time)

So Matt and I spent our day off laying by the river enjoying the beautiful fall weather. We played cards, read, and of course Matt fished :)

One of the many things that I love about my husband is the way that he would rather fish then do almost anything else. He loves to be able to be outside enjoying and “partaking in creation.” He would fish everyday if he could. So…we brought our stuff not thinking that we would catch anything, but…

He caught one! You should have seen the smile on his face after he caught this fish. It made his day!

Here is a picture of our fancy room. We got dressed up to go to dinner downstairs. And here is a picture of the baby belly.

The next morning we got up and walked along the river before going to get breakfast at this little family owned type breakfast place. It was really fun.

Beautiful creation!

So overall, we got to take day and night to get away from the chaos of our house. While we were away my parents came over to our house and did a big time cleaning of the babies room and painted the whole thing. It looks amazing now compared to what it looked like before. So we were then able to bring the crib and changing table over to put in the room. Finishing the baby room will be my project for the week.

Thanks Mom and Dad for an amazing day off and for transforming our baby room. You guys are amazing!

Baby Showers October 5, 2008

Well, we are getting down to the wire…finally. Tomorrow we are officially 37 weeks and what that means is Baby showers! My sister and mom threw me a baby shower last weekend for some family and friends and then this weekend Lindsey Williamson threw Samm and I a joint diaper and wipes shower that a lot of the Campus Outreach staff and some students came to. They were both so fun.

Last weekend I was blessed to have a lot of my family from Wisconsin come into town to celebrate with me. It was so great to see family and friends that I don’t generally get to see that often.

My sister and mom did an amazing job baking and cooking for the party. We are still awaiting some pictures of the three of us. I think my sister has them (hint-hint, Stef).

Then yesterday we were over at the Williamson’s. This is a picture of a diaper cake that Lindsey made. It was the cutest thing ever. The whole thing was made of diapers and ribbon. Lindsey is gifted with fanciness :)

Here is a picture of most of the people that were at the shower. I think that Samm and I are set for a little while at least with diapers and wipes. However, we did just find out that you go through around 10 ish diapers a day! Which means that you would go through 70 in a week. Which means that a pack of 44 or whatever it is they give you, which at first seems like a ton is not really. That will only last you 4-5 days! Yikes.

Here is our hostess with Ellie Jane. So weird that she is already 2 months old. She is just starting to get on to a sleeping routine and was able to sleep all the way through our party. What a good little girl. Hopefully Maddux and Annie will take lessons :)

Pregnancy updates:

Samm is still on partial bed rest so that she doesn’t go into pre-term labor, but it is getting to the point now where it would be ok for her to deliver. She is feeling good, just restricted in what she is allowed to do and how much she moves around. It is looking like little Maddux will probably be born before Annie!

I just went to the doc a few days ago and besides a few more nagging last month pregnancy symptoms am progressing well. I am praying that I will not get my hopes up to deliver much (if at all) before my due date (Oct. 27-which would be nice) but am trying to anticipate a long last month. I hear that this is more the norm the first pregnancy anyways.

All in all, doing fine but very much feeling that I am in the last month. I will be very grateful when Annie has come.

Samm Poteat and Me September 19, 2008

Samm and I are about 6 days apart in pregnancy. It has been so much fun to walk through the experience together. (we are also currently living with each other) But we have been taking a few pictures along the way. Here are a couple of the latest.

Samm is due November 2 and I am due October 27.

This is my dad and mom.

We will keep you updated on how everything is progressing.

34 weeks, 4 days September 18, 2008

We just had another doctors appointment today and everything is going well. We are almost at 35 weeks. Full term is 37, so Annie could be born in 2 weeks and be completely healthy.

I have been starting to get a little more uncomfortable. Especially by the end of the day my feet and hands get swollen and I get pretty sore. The other joy that I have had is having pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. My hands and forearms get numb on and off throughout the day and I have a hard time with fine motor skills because I can’t grip very hard. My finger joints are really sore.

The other hard part of pregnancy has been not being able to do much activity. I had to stop walking at least a month ago because I would get sore. So I got a stepper machine (advice from my mother in law) that is really my only way to exercise.

BUT…I am praying that through this last month God would allow my primary emotion to be that of gratefulness and thankfulness. I am so thankful that we first, were able to get pregnant at all, and now, that Annie (up to this point) seems to be a healthy little girl. Thank you Lord.

Here are some pictures of Matt and I…getting a bit bigger at this point.

You can’t really see him behind me…but Matt is there too :)

Volleyball reunion August 28, 2008

Last week some of the old volleyball girls got together again to hang out. Three of us are pregnant. I thought you might enjoy seeing some pictures.

Whenever we get together with any of the volleyball team we eat terribly. Almost everybody but one person brought dessert. Oh, it is yummy…but we all probably gained 5 lbs that day!
